We are glad to announce that we have been selected to design a conservation standard and certification mechanism to protect the endangered turtle population along the Nicaraguan Pacific Coast. The project follows the concept of payments for ecosystem services and wildlife conservation. It was initiated by the California based organisation Paso Pacifico which strives to restore and conserve the natural ecosystems of Central America’s Pacific coast by working with landowners and local communities.
Collaborating with our holding company NatureBank, we will develop a biodiversity standard and certification scheme followed by an implementation guide that will lay out how to run the proposed certification scheme and to market turtle conservation credits. The proposed conservation standard will be open for public review by external stakeholders starting mid January 2017.
