Three CO₂OL forest carbon projects among the first Gold Standard certified A/R projects
One year after the CO₂OL carbon projects had become so-called “Transition Projects” that were managed by the Gold Standard, three projects of the portfolio of CO₂OL are now among the first worldwide officially certified under the Gold Standard Land Use & Forests Programme: „CO₂OL Tropical Mix“ in Panama, „ArBolivia+ – New Forests for Local Development“ in Bolivia and „Soddo Community Managed Reforestation“ in Ethiopia. This makes CO₂OL one of the first and most important suppliers of Gold Standard certified carbon credits generated through afforestation.
Last year, the Gold Standard Foundation extended its best practice in renewable energy and energy efficiency into land-use and forests. This quality benchmark for land use activities is unique as it was developed with more than 100 organisations including WWF, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Fairtrade International, World Vision and major governments.
For years, the ForestFinance Group, based in Bonn, Germany, has successfully implemented projects according to the CarbonFix Standard, on which the new Gold Standard Land Use & Forests Programme is based, under the brand CO₂OL. CO₂OL is a pioneer in the development of high-quality climate protection projects which guarantee highest transparency and credibility.
